German Blitzkrieg in Poland is also known as Invasion of Poland or September Campaign. Germany staged several incidents to create a scene of Germany being threatened by the Polish army. Nazi party used propaganda to describe the invasion as German self-deference from Poland’s invasion. The first battle took place on 1 September 1939, German armies attacked the Polish town of Wieluń and destroyed 75% of the city. Close to 1,200 civilians of the town were killed within hours. At 8:00, still without declaration of the war, Germany attacked the town of Mokra. Germany continued to attack the western, northern border of Poland, which started the Battle of Border. Soviet Union joined the war on 10th September because Poland’s territory is in between Germany and Soviet Union.
The largest campaign was the Battle of Bzura which lasted for 10 days. The new technology that had been put in the battle was large bomb. 50kg and 100 kg “light bombs” were dropped on the land, which caused large amount of casualties.
